Diving Phu Quoc

Vietnam is not world famous it's scuba diving, but Nan and I decided to give it a shot anyway.

Scuba overview
Our first dive was at Fingernail Island and the second at Turtle Island. In a shocking outcome of events, Fingernail Island was prettier than Turtle Island.
We saw: nice coral, parrot fish, schools of little fish, angelfish, some crabs, and countless sea urchins. Nan said she saw a clown fish (Nemo).
The visibility isn't good (15 ft), but the water is warm (82*). We only went down about 30 ft on either dive.

Dive trip overview:
There are two main scuba shops, Rainbow and Flipper Dive Club. We choose Flipper for a few reasons: good price ($70/person), beachside pickup, and preferred time frame for the day 9am - 3pm.
The big dive boat had many people on it, 13 staff and 29 visitors. Nice ratio and enough space that you're not on top of each other. About a dozen were just snorkeling, some were just chilling, and the rest were divers. They split us up further so Nan and I dove with crew member Jyri. The smaller the group, the better underwater.

Jyri is from Finland and has mastered the English word "basically." He seems like the type of person who would never raise his voice. He did a nice briefing, was easy to follow underwater, and the rest of the crew was helpful and friendly as well. Most importantly, the equipment was in really good shape (and included in the price).
We ate lunch - a simple but satisfying Vietnamese spread - on the boat after dive 2. Below is a woman with a nice haircut enjoying potable drinking water. Spent a few hours dangling my legs over this side of the boat while we cruised around.
Nobody ever claimed the diving was amazing, but the trip itself was definitely worth it and we'd do it again.
